Book Cover Design

Week 7

By undertaking research with regards to my chosen maps, locations and eras I was able to consider my character development and gain inspiration for my children’s book design.

For my book cover I elected to initially take forward analogue techniques, utilising colouring pencils prior to uploading and refining my work digitally. This technique enabled me to work with a limited colour palette (thus, avoiding my page appearing ‘muddy’ and ‘overwhelming’); select a fine-tooth paper and alter the pressure applied to the paper (creating a textured drawing, that doesn’t appear ‘flat’).  The key amendments that I am considering making are: Enlarging the area for the child to input their name; refining my elected colours, where needed; and straightening the image of Big Ben. Meanwhile, I have opted to add the time travel club logo and maps digitally to create a professional appearance.
